This story starts in Wales at the end of the 18th Century and follows the life of William "Charcoal" Williams as well as other settlers, convicts, Scottish immigrants and Irish political prisoners as their families interwrine to build the fabric of today's Australia. The Great Lakes Museum in situated in Tuncurry on the northern side of the ocean entrance to Wallis Lake (the largest coastal lake in New South Wales). The museum is run by volunteers who are members of the Great Lakes Historical Society formed in 1976.
